What is the best bat in our arsenal?

Postby Sperminator7 » Thu Jun 19, 2008 4:27 pm

Ok, we have 16 bats in our dugout and 15 players,..what is you opinion as the best bat and why. You can also pick a bat we have that may not be your size, but would use it if it were. My pick is for the small barreled/thin handled liquid metal 33/30. That thing is a swizzle stick that everyone besides Peter and I complain is to light. Bat speed fella's,..come on!

I would have to say it is Doug's Hammer! It takes a real man to swing a 32 inch bat in adulthood! Not to mention with a big dent in it also! Doug's bat wins in a landslide!

The Hammer is a very special bat,...we should call it Wonder Boy (The Natural). Here's the thing about it, I think D. Fresh is the only one who can use it. It's like one of James Bond's special weapons that has some kind of retinal scan or finger print lock. If anyone else uses it, you'll hit swinging bunts, but Doug crushes it to the warning track. The dent is a nice touch, true sign of a hard hit ball by The Fresh

Daniel's Pine Tar Slugger

Postby CoachShane » Fri Jun 20, 2008 8:30 am

Dherm my pick would have to be your Pine Tar Slugger. Yep, the one that landed you that All-Star Award you sleep with in between you and your bunny at night. The handle is capped with ages of athletic tape giving the bottom of the bat a Barry Bonds a la feel to it. As you move up towards the barrel of the PT Slugger you'll run across a plethera of pine tar that even George Brett would be proud of. This dramatically improves your grip which is essential when your swinging a bat that weighs about as much as a super big gulp straw. In fact Dherm we have a double header can you re-tar the Slugger? Just remember if you use the PT Slugger you'll want to have a focused attention on letting go of the bat after your 'HIT', I've been have half way down the 1st baseline with this bat stuck in my left hand like a track paton!

The PT Slugger is a nice bat,...looks like a real piece of sh*t, but do have 3 career jacks with it. You and I are the only one's who use it from time to time, but everyone picks it up to 'tar' their hands before their AB. Either that, or ya'll just wants to wrap their hands around my stick.
Could give it a consolation prize for must 'touched' bat.

The Hammer is an exceptional bat for exceptional players. The dented barrel is just proof that is not a double barrel composite like many GOOD bats are. I feel guilty using a good bat considering I haven't proven I am a good hitter (yet). My day is coming and I am going to ride the Hammer to the promise land of a + .200 average for the season. I feel comfortable with a big, black, thick stick in my hands.
