No AA division?

Postby four » Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:47 am

Who else is bummed out that we're not moving up to AA? I don't know who else was really looking forward to moving up a division besides me because I don't get to hear everyones' thoughts--I have to work days that you all have parties and such.

Moving up a division would have been harder, no doubt due to new teams and, hopefully, more difficult competition, but I was looking forward to the idea that we really earned the right to move up. I've been with this team since the Scrubs name began (I think), and I have really seen our team improve, and more importantly, the team chemistry has really improved also. I felt we started as a recreation team out on the weekends for the sole reason to have fun, but we have really combined that mentality with a competitive edge, and we've really done well.

Moreover, I'm really bummed to not be in AA. If we had a chance to be in AA and really felt like we deserved it, this was the the time to do it. I don't know who made the decision, but I hope next time the entire team will have a vote. For those nay-sayers who feel we're not at the level of AA, you're a negative nancy. We really play well against good teams, rising to the occasion of any such dominance. Dan's grand slam is testament to that in the championship. We were not playing well, but he gave us a big hit and put us back in the mood to win.

We're a great group of guys that should be in AA!!

There is a little history you need to know about this. At the fall season manager's meeting over a month ago, Scott registered us in 18A. We didn't know we were going to be in the championship game at that time. After we played at Grossmont, the SDABL went silent on the issue. Earlier this week, we came down to the deadline to finalize our registration (we got in with 12 hours to spare, or we wouldn't have been playing this weekend). We discovered that the Blue A's, who defeated us for the championship, were not going up to AA. Scott checked with the commissioners, who confirmed that we were scheduled to stay in single A for the fall season, and that's how we ended up there.

Apparently, going up a division is not mandatory, although the league is so organizationally screwed up that maybe they just forgot, with the new three-season plan, the championship venue mess, etc.

It's pretty much an impossibility to get a consensus on this team, but you're right - everyone should have a vote. We can go up any time we want, and if that's what the team wants, it should collectively decide and declare before we register for the spring season.

Sorry,
I'm one of the few people on the team that is delighted to stay down in "A" ball. Here are some key points for my enjoyment.

1. Unfinished business- We didn't win A last season, and in my opinion don't deserve to move up until we do. With Rob back we are locked and loaded from top to bottom.
2. Grudge match with the Reds- I don't know about how people feel about playing the Reds, but I am really excited to finally be in the same division as them. It's not that I don't like Jimmy, but I just want to be able to shut him up about his team> The core of us played with the reds and it will be a trip down memory lane when we finally lock horns with our old club.
3. "A" pitching is easy to hit, I suck at hitting.

I suck at hitting

For Summer 2010, .422 BA -- .822 slugging -- .579 on base -- 3 jacks -- 21 RBI. Yep. You really do suck big time at hitting. You should take up a different sport, like horseshoes or croquet.
