4.0 DELI SCRUBS

I just spoke with Jesse and here is what is comes down to.....

Jesse is willing to spend $25 per jersey for the new season..... 13 jerseys x $25 = $325

-In order to justify the cost inured Jesse would like us to be called ...... "4.0 Deli"

-Jersey Color will be Navy Blue....with a red 4.0 Deli logo on the front....and your desired number on the back....Keeping with the Navy Blue allows the team to keep the same belt, socks, and hats.....

-We have yet to decided on sleeves or sleeveless (Jesse is going to get a few samples from the manufacturer and we will look at these together and decide as a team)

-I am asking for $10 per player to cover additional costs Jesse will incur; Logo Design, Numbers, Shipping, etc... this $10 extra dollars will also cover buying 2 or 3 extra jerseys for future players...


I know that as a team we talked about Camo Jerseys, Black, Old School Padres Colors....etc.... We can still go this route and keep the SD Scrubs name if everyone is willing to pay for their own jersey.... ( this would cost about $35 bucks per player )

Summary: 3 options

#1: 4.0 Deli, Blue Jersey, and each person paying $10 ....

#2: Team decides on alternate Jersey and Name and pays $35 per jersey.....

#3: Keep everything "as is" no cost....

Let me know your thoughts????? I would like to have this settled by Saturday.....

Yes, you will need this decision very soon because we'll have to register a team and probably the name we register under is the one we're stuck with, at least as far as SDABL is concerned, until we finish up the fall season in November.

One thought, in the interest of continuity: Sponsors come and go (except for Berry's in the upper divisions) and every time that happens, web sites have to be re-done, uniforms have to be re-done, internet domain names have to be thrown away and replaced and the team identity in the league gets lost (the Bandits have had that name as long as we've been in the league. They change divisions, they change personnel, but they keep their identity). So consider adding one more word to the team name, the part that sticks around if JC doesn't sponsor us forever. Some variation on what they did with the Reds .. the 4.0 Deli Reds. When JC and 4.0 moved on, the Reds name stayed behind and the whole thing didn't have to be re-built from scratch.

I know you see through my self-serving motivation here .. I don't want to have to re-design and re-program the entire web site every season! Our current site consists of more than 150 pages (not all of which are on-line at any given moment). Changing a sponsor name is easy, changing the entire site, from team colors to team names, is a big deal. If we can be the Dodgers .. I know, poor example .. and keep that name regardless whether we're sponsored or not, and regardless by whom, any future transitions will be simple. Then it's the 4.0 Deli Dodgers, some time in the future the Scrub Mart Dodgers or the EnergyTech Marine Dodgers, and if we're not sponsored, just the Dodgers. The currently proposed change will involve a big re-work, which I'm more than happy to do but it won't happen immediately. And I don't want to have to do it three times a year.

I dont want to speak for the entire team...but... I am fine with leaving the website as "www.sdscrubs.com".....

It might sound stupid but why not register the team as "4.0 Deli Scrubs" and if Jesse ever leaves us we drop the "4.0 Deli" (Why would Jesse leave...its not like he is playing with Jimmy)

If this is to much work for the Web Master we can do a couple of things....

-leave the name, jersey, etc.... alone...

-Call ourselves "4.0 Deli Scrubs" and slowly transition....if the website still reads SD Scrubs I would be fine with that....

Doug, you do this out of the goodness of your heart and we thank you.... The website is always perfect and up to date.... I am just trying to find a way to make it less work for you....

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with a name change and I'm certainly not in love with the name "Scrubs". The website will remain "sdscrubs.com" for a while and will probably change during the dead zone over the holidays just because that's when I'll have time to do it, although if 4.0 sponsors us I'll get some 4.0 stuff onto the site before then. (I re-wrote the site and bought the sdscrubs.com domain last January before we started up in the spring. It'll be up for renewal in January 2011 and that would be a good time to find a new domain name). It's just simpler to maintain if we keep the team name (Reds, Yankees, Douchebags, whatever) separate from the sponsor name. We can be the 4.0 Deli Cubs but that way we have flexibility later on if anything changes. And no, it doesn't have to be the Scrubs. But you will collectively have to decide what we're going to be this fall before you register the team.

This team belongs to you guys ... you pay the bills. I'll happily work with whatever you come up with.

I have in no way at all sponsored this team in any manner over the past several years and when we decided to branch off from the Reds, some of us went over names and Scrubs sounded cool to us so we rolled with it. I am partial to the name Scrubs because it is what I am and what I do. I think we have built a good rep in SDABL over the years and dropping Scrubs from our name will definitely drop our identity within the league. I love Jesse and the fact that he is stepping up and willing to sponsor us (unlike my tight wad ass), and it has inspired me. If we would like to keep the name as 4.0 Deli Scrubs, I will cover the extra cost on top of the amount Jesse has offered to cover. In other words, I will pay the extra $10 or so per player and cover the rest of the teams cost for new jerseys. This way no one has to worry about coming up with any extra cash besides league fees for Skotty. Again, this is up for a vote and if we decide to change the name entirely I am absolutely fine with it (although I refuse to wear Dodger blue or play as the Dodgers=I know it was just an example Doug but I hate those bastards) and will gladly don any jersey with any name on it every Saturday as long as you fuckers will keep me on the team. I also feel that if Jesse wants to take on this expense, he should also have the final say in our name. If he wants us to be the 4.0 Deli Cumguzzlers, we roll with it unless someone else wants to fork out the cash. Thank you Jesse, and as Skotty says to end his posts, "Let me know your thoughts..." A few Q's:

1) Are we getting new jerseys to represent 4.0 Deli or are we going to called be 4.0 Deli Scrubs, thus being able to keep current jersy?
2) If we change jerseys are we keeping it blue? I know we've talked about it before, but blue is the same color as half the teams in the league. I know Big Red mentioned it's a pain in dar arrss to change the site colors...?
3)What are the odds a bird shits on you lower lip? Seriously, Fresh, if you don't have a fat lipper that poo misses by 1cm! Just saying man...

It is, but it doesn't all have to happen overnight. I can work on it when I have time. You'll probably see the site evolve from one name/sponsor/color to another. It will look weird for awhile but eventually it will be done. Don't let the web site considerations control what you're going to do.

What I was sayin was that "if" we want to remainthe "________ Scrubs" I would help pay for the remainder of the balance after Jesse pays the first $25 per player. If Jesse/we want to do a whole revamp (which I am cool with) and change the name to "4.0 Deli __________", then everyone pitches in their own $10 or whatever Skotty mentioned in the first post. Not sure what/if anyone has decided anything yet but we are running out of time and we have been talking about this since the last team party in my bar. Do we have options with the colors Jesse or are we rollin with your Deli colors? Some people will want to get out of navy and others won't want to go with black. We all know Skotty wants pink but he will have to continue to wear his pink thongs under his jock strap next season as well. I don't give a rat's ass to be honest just as long as we get to play on Saturdays. I will play in a wifebeater with black Dickies shants and my house shoes with long white tube socks if that is what we decide (and that would make Dom very happy). Lets just make a decision already and get er done.

And Dan, I have had recurring nightmares of a giant seagull flying over head and just unloading a ginormous shart all over my face. That bird taking a dump on my lip is going to traumatize me so don't be surprised if I jump whenever I see the shadow of a bird flying overhead. Atleast we play softball at night so I should be safe packing a huge lipper Thursday.

If the team want a free Jersey......

Navy Blue is the color that Jesse wants....since he is willing to pay for the jersey I feel obliged to stick to his wishes.....

Team name....if we decide on the free Jersey we would be called "4.0 Deli" ..... I took into consideration what Doug Herman said about keeping with the theme of "Scrubs " and using the name of "4.0 Deli Scrubs" I am going to run this by Jesse.....

Its a free Jersey....the team is in need of new uniforms.....Jesse is the sponsor that allows us to get new uniforms......

We can hold off another season and talk about this again if everyone wants.... After this season I am done taking the lead on getting new Uni's.....

I was out of line getting involved in this discussion and I apologize for doing so. The issues of sponsorship, team name, jersey style and color and team identity are your business, not mine. You guys are paying members of this team. I just hang out because it's fun and has sort of become my pet project.

I ask again, please don't make any decisions about any of this based on my earlier posts. We'll make it work regardless what you come up with.

Do whatever makes the most sense to you as a team.
