I was just wondering what this was, because some people get credit for it and some don't. Why does it count if you ground out, but not if a runner scores on a f.c or error.
The stats software package I use calls it a Sac Hit and is used to score sacrifice bunts, among other things. If a runner scores on a fielders choice, the guy who hit the ball by definition is not out, so that would not be a sacrifice. Ditto getting on base on an error. In both cases, you get the RBI but you're not out, so no sacrifice. The Official Rules of Baseball (MLB edition) are not very clear on sacrifices, period. Except that they are supposed to be intentional (which a bunt usually is, but a fly never is). Since my mindreading skills are a little rusty, if you drive in a run and get put out in the process, I "assume" you meant to do so and score it a sacrifice. May be wrong, but it wouldn't be the first time.
What are we going to do with Cole in the playoffs? We can add him to the roster
Be careful on this one -- last year a player had to have played in seven regular season games in order to be eligible for post-season. Don't know what the deal is this year but it will be something similar. Cole Train will have the seven games, but by registering him this late, you're announcing that he was illegal in all those other games.
