Double header!

Postby Gdawg » Thu Jun 19, 2008 9:59 am

Our luck that we play the remaining two hard teams in a double header! At least the Beavers have to play the ballers in the morning, so To try to get at least one win we should pitch cole that game and try to shut them down and try our best the 2nd game. Both teams are good. They are combined 8-1-1 in their last 5 games. After these two teams the last 3 teams we might play are 7 and 29! So if we can at least split the double header, we should be good to go! Let's play 2! At least we are playing at Mnt. Miguel, where I have hit my last 2 jacks. Go Scrubs!

Exactly right, Gino -- let's throw everything we have at the first game and try to get a win. If we split our effort, we'll play two half-assed games and probably lose them both. Let's nail the first one and then, if we have anything left, give #2 our best shot.

Guys, this is not the Saturday night to go out, party yourself silly, stay up half the night and show up at the ballpark leaving drag marks in the dust behind you. This (unless there's a blowout in there) will be 18 innings of baseball, 5 to 6 hours on the field with about an hour between games. And it's going to be HOT on Sunday afternoon, to make matters worse (be sure to bring plenty of water, Gatorade, whatever you use to re-hydrate). So go for an early lights-out Saturday night!

At least the scheduler put both of our games at the same place. Sometimes you play one, jump in the cars, drive somewhere else and play another one. Shitty way to schedule games, but they sometimes do it that way. And this "announce the Sunday schedule on Thursday" routine is really getting old.

Let's try to win both. We may not have our starter for both but can sneak out a win with our bats which have been hot of late. I will unlikely be there for game one due to continued house work, so I'll be semi fresh for game two. My advice is try to go up big in the first 5 innings of game one, pull Cole in in the the 6th, and use him to start the first few innings of game two if up to it. It's gonna be hot EVERY game from here on out so get use to it. As long as we make these teams beat us and not beat ourselves we shall be good. Smart, aggressive baseball is the only way we will win both, and like Gino metioned,...our last few opponents suck and will walk over them into the playoffs. Either way, we are going to get a middle seed and likely play a so-so team first round anyway.

BTW, if you want to get faded on Saturday night, you'll play better. I didn't really warm up last Sunday (which is VERY unusual for me) cause I was still drunk from the U.S. Open the day before and played better than I can remember. I think the small headache and discomfort lightens the hands and given you a case of the "fuk-its' and thus calms the nerves a bit at the plate. Drink up boys!!!

You know, I did teach him everything valuable that he knows. I may have a very large Jack for breakfast and one more for dessert on Sunday myself, just to get ready for this shitball marathon we're about to do. (I've already done five games this week -- ours on Sunday plus four all-star games -- and it's ony Thursday night).

That's the spirit BigRed. Be positive and look at it this way; you can't control that we have a double-header, but you can control how much you drink. I can't believe you've not only kept the book for all those games (which is very confusing to say the least) but also announced the games, played music between innings, not to mention having to deal with people coming up to the score booth asking lame questions, complaining about shit that's out of your control, late line-up cards, Ming/Mike hovering over talking the whole time etc. With all that, I'm surprised you aren't like Bob Ucher in Major League who has his Jack bottle in the booth with him. But you do have the golden voice, you play good tunes, and having you there truly adds to the total baseball experience. Good job Pop

Great Strategy...

Postby CoachShane » Fri Jun 20, 2008 8:48 am

Great strategy Boys I would agree in full. Winning game one is not a choice it is a responsibilty for the Scrubs and Defense Wins Championships is just not an old cliche...our defense has been solid in the few moments we get each game when Cole is out. In fact I haven't seen a defense like this since Ray Lewis & the Ravens in 2000. Ideally, like DHerm said, if we can get to those boys early with our bats and some runs in game one we can get Cole out by the 5th or 6th and use him to get off to another good start in game 2.
Never under estimate the power of the Liver Lotion, especially on a Satruday night and never count out a bloddy buddy Sunday morning just to dust the cobb webs off. Now if you do happen to go "Rictor" on Saturday Night, as in 8.5 or above on the rictor scale, there is an old secret cure I learned from my days in the mexican leagues over in TJ and baja...

Sunday Baseball Hangover Cure Recipe

1 Bowl of MENUDO + 24 oz. of Modelo + 1 Side of Flour Tortillas
Since the game starts at 12:00 you can sleep in from your Liver Lotion Tour the night before make it to your favorite Panchos by 10:00am hovering over a steamy sweaty bowl of Menudo. Don't worry by 10:54am everything that was in your body the night before WILL BE OUT!

Gdawg, never use the elements against yourself in competition,...remember it's HOT for everyone. Besides, your the DH anyway, you just get hits and then work on your swing till your next AB. It won't be that bad,...except for Scott. His balls are going to drown in his cup while catching!!!
