Congratulations, Gino and Peter - our Scrubs delegation to the All Star game! (If we move up one more spot in the standings next weekend, we'll put a third player on the All Star team.)

The ever elusive All-Star selections were made yesterday for the San Diego Scrubs and the Salvaggio Bros go #1 and #2 to represent our team on 6/17/08 at Helix Stadium. The Scrubs will have a strong presence in the All-Star game as the "New-Age Bash Brothers" will surely be aiming at the All-Star MVP award at the conclusion of the game. And why shouldn't they be? Between them both they have accounted for 1/4 of the RBI's this year on the team. In 53 AB's they have 23 Hits and 9 Walks and have only struck out 7 times in those at bats. Gino your time in the cage shows week in and week out, great job and congratulations! Peter, I swear your swing gets prettier by the game baby, awesome job at the plate and also in the field this year. Good Luck to the "New-Age Bash Brothers"!!
In Success,

Coach Shane

Does anybody feel like Shane is making a run for Manager next year? I need to nip this in the butt soon before it becomes a problem....

So Doug.....if we win one more game the Scrubs get to take 3 players....if so we might have to have a vote between Kenny and Brandon C......

Yeah, we should do it next Sunday. Looking at the standings right now (after yesterday's games) and doing a little figuring, if we win one more and the team just above us, the Dirtbags, loses one, it still doesn't get us to 4th place (we'd then be 7-4 -- .636, they'd be 8-4 -- .667). But if we win the next two and they lose the next two, it would (we'd be 8-4 -- .667, they'd be 8-5 -- .615). If the cutoff dates that SDABL has announced also apply to us (no idea why they haven't posted some of the dates, including ours), that would probably mean cutoff will be Sunday, June 15. So the we-win-two, they-lose-two scenario could play out. It's a longshot, but it's possible. If it does, you'll almost certainly have a manager's meeting that Sunday night (6/15) because All Star games start the following evening, so you'd need to know who our third guy is.

Wow I am so unprepared for this. First off I want thank God because without him Scott wouldn't have a good pickup line for Doug. I also want to thank my parents who produced two of the best baseball players SDABL 18A has ever seen!! Also thank you to all my fans that voted for me, it is obvious that you guys know talent when you see it. And how could I forget the one person that made this all posible, my strength and conditioning coach Scott Viavada! He has taught me that you don't need to worry about the fundamentals of baseball. All you need is some steriods and HGH! You have nothing to worry about Scott, your job is safe as the Scrubs manager. No one can replace you!

Guess the tie-breaker vote won't be needed. You might have noticed that on the SDABL newsletter that gave us All Star cutoff dates, several including ours were shown as "6/ 8) ". Yesterday, I contacted Fred Hays, the SDABL webmaster, to see what the real dates are. Here is the e-mail exchange:

From: "Fred Hays" <webmaster-fred@sdabl.com>
To: "Doug Herman" <dherman@pbninc.com>
Subject: Re: All Star cutoff dates

Looks to me like it's supposed to be 6/8 (june 8th). Thanks for pointing out the formatting error. Wasn't exactly a typo. An 8-parenthesis combination is supposed to make that smiley face.

Some of the cutoff dates in the newsletter are shown as:
Sun 18a: (6/ 8)
which, of course, isn't quite enough information. Pls check it out and give us some dates! Both Explorer and Firefox are displaying the smiley character. Must be a typo in the source text somewhere!

Thankx

The league website has now been corrected to show 6/8 cutoff. Even if we win on Sunday and the Dirtbags lose, that won't put us in the top four. So our work on All Star selection is finished.
