Batting order:

Postby dsitter11 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 5:09 pm

Since the rain is fucking up our season already, might as well get everyone all hot and bothered with this lovely topic of discussion.
My picks (based on absolutely nothing): with Brent and Rob-
1)Brent
2)Brandon C.
3)Derek A.
4)Jesse
5)Gino
6)Matty
7)Peter
8)Dan
9)Matt M.
10)Rob
11)Doug
12)Skott
13)Derek (new guy)

When Brent & Rob get lost in the OC after a night of drinking in PB:
1)Brandon C.
2)Peter
3)Derek A.
4)Gino
5)Jesse
6)Matty
7)Dan
8)Matt M.
9)Doug
10)Skott
11)Derek (new guy)

I saw the new Derek hit at practice and dude is a beast but I think we hit him at the bottom to get him acclimated to playing with us and then adjust roster as need be. Every year someone else is hot (unless you are Mr. Derek "Hitting Machine" Ayres, then you are always hot...fucker) so we move roster around to make best use of that person's bat. No one likes to hit at the bottom but we should really try to load both ends of the lineup so it isn't a waste of an inning if three guys are cold at the bottom. Mix a hit in between outs and good things will happen. I suck so I know my spot and you all probably have an idea of where you want/think you should be hitting too. Throw it on this post and let's help Skotty with the lineup before games so he doesn't get a bunch of shit on Saturday morning because you think you should be hitting ahead of somebody. Batting average isn't always best way to gauge a hitter either. We should alternate righty/lefty as much as possible since none of these teams have a bullpen anyways.

Anyways, just my thoughts and I am sure this will spark some interest. I put the wood in the firepit now come por some gasoline on it and lets light this son of a bitch up!!

!. Brandon C.(Guy gets on base and knows what to do in every situation)
2. Dan H. (Speed merchant will take walks, and score runs with the big fellas behind him)
3. Derek Ayers (Why are you reading this)
4. Jesse C (I'm gonna have a monster year) :o
5. Gino (big arms and hits lasers)
6. Matty Wags(get him mad and he starts murdering the ball)
7. Matt M (Streaky hitter with shit tons of pop) Almost unfair that we have so many solid hitters
8. Peter (Spark plug hitter that knows how to hit in the clutch)
9. Brent (We are pretty lucky to have a line drive hitting, fast guy down this low)
10.Rob (Streaky but when hes hot, he can carry the lineup down here)
11.Doug S. (Would be hittign higher if he just shows up sober)
12. Derek Young (Looks to be a great free agent pickup, get him hitting bombs like at practice and we got a winner)
13. Scott (he almost hit .300 last year, and when you can say that your 13th hitter hit near .300 you might be looking at a championship run)
I hope I didnt offend anyone I am not the manager and my opinion does not reflect that of the Scrubs or anyone above or below

AT OUR BEST:

1. Brandon C: Has/Is a solid, and dependable lead off
2. Brent: Good Speed, and has hit really well in the past.
3. Doc: Blah-Blah
4. JC: When having monster years, few are more productive
5. New Derek: He's an athlete, he can stroke
6. Gdawg: Solid Avg and RBI production in the middle of line-up
7.Matty W: Check his stats all time, just hits people in!
8. Peter: Scores runs, no matter where he hits
9. Daniel: Speed at the bottom, runs in.
10. Doug: He asked a favor and wants to hit 'behind' me?!?
11. Matt Martin: Power at the bottom, will get some good pitches
12. Rob: See above
13.Imporving every year, solid 13th batter!

Nobody is trying to offend anyone, and if your feelings are hurt, fuck you, and go sit in the corner like a 4 year old,..pussy.

Each of the batting orders have their perks, and others, well others just look like we have too many people batting. But, we're here to have fun and kick some ass, so let's do what we do every year and swing away.

Now a batting order is a little bit science, a little guts 'n blood, but mostly it's an art. We'll never figure out a perfect line-up because none of us are artists.

However, there is one thing I have to include in this conversation, and it's inspiration came from Dan's line-up. Although he didn't play ball in high school or in college (which he could have if he wanted to), his line up has an X-Factor, if you will, with placing Derek "New-Guy" Young in the 5 spot. I'm not particular about where he hits, but from what I saw at practice, his swing belongs in the middle.

Now placing him anywhere from 4-7 is where he should be, and anyone who's says otherwise, just doesn't know baseball. He naturally puts the ball in the air, and rarely hits the ball on the ground. Now his power just isn't natural; looks like he worked hard for that, but let's get real. A guy to put that much hair on the ball in the air in the middle of the line-up is going to result in extra base hits, or just outfielders being on their heals running back to the ball. Either way, runners will advance. Save guys to spray the ball around the field, using whatever body English they possess to get on base at the top and the bottom. This is a bell curve of power folks!

I really see our team putting up some runs this year! Stay focused on the fundamentals fellas, so we can do the small things perfect!
Warning track power!!

First let me say I hope I offend everyone!!!! This is my take on this weeks game only

1 Peter/Dan pick your poison, whoever you think will be hot. Keep in mind Peter is good at poker and Dan likes Spanx
2 Doc isn't good at poker ask Peter
3 Jesse is our sponsor better bat him high
4 Gino he has a great beard
5 Derek have him hit in front Matty in case he is non runnner
6 Matty W If you ever heard the question before a game, "Do you know what time it is?" Well he literally does.
7 Dan/Peter
8 Matt Martin he'll bat higher when his elbows are in.
9 Fresh- Depends on if he's Drunk, his best season was a season filled with hangovers
10 Skott-hopefully has continued to work on his swing, and not half assing it.

Looking forward to saturday!!!!

I think Skottie is serious this season, I mean, did you see the face he made when he 'lightly' poped out to the thrid baseman last night in softball. That was a face of disappointment, he expects more of himself.

Peter/Dan pick your poison, whoever you think will be hot. Keep in mind Peter is good at poker and Dan likes Spanx

Peter is a fucking cheater at poker, he always wants it at his house cause he's a crafty guy who has hidden mirrors, cameras, marked cards, and likely a black light with special glasses to view his marked cards. Ooooor, he brings in his 'dealer' Dom to dish out hard pocket pairs to Peter and dumps 3-7's on us. Bastard!

9 Fresh- Depends on if he's Drunk, his best season was a season filled with hangovers

Two words: Jager-Machine

8 Matt Martin he'll bat higher when his elbows are in.

I think Matt has to turn sideways to walk through doors...

2 Doc isn't good at poker ask Peter

Plays to many hands and is to aggresive at the table. Likely trying to solve his personal vendetta against Bobby and his 5th street 4 of a kinds bad beats.

Who the fuck do I know, that wears a cut-off jersey that says SCRUBS in 10' letters across the chest and is going to be 1-0 by this time Saturday? Me and my boys! Lets have some fun tomorrow, do the simple, don't press. Do it together and we never lose.

No serious Skiyot, who's playing?

Great batting order for the first game Skottie! Power top to bottom, speed in the middle, had non-runners behind swifter runners. Good job! Brandon not being there might throw a wrinkle in the mix cause Peter had a hell of a game, but am confident that either Peter or Brandon or even Brent could lead off. But having me at 6th, and Brent at the bottom makes it like we have three leadoffs throughout the line-up. We are solid top to bottom, lets keep it rollin boys!

I think everyone should have input on the line-up. It's ultimately up to Skyott to pencil it in, but here are some thoughts. Again, I have NO say:

JC can run, I saw him leg out several ground balls this season, the man isn't that slow, and he knows the game. He should not be a non-runner.

Back-to-back lefts at 3-4 not the best idea. With a runner on and a lefty up next the 1st baseman can strangle the line. I like the Brandon, Peter combo, it's working. But Doc will get better pitches at the 2 spot. Big lefty at the 3 spot is asking for off speed away..

Hitting Martin (should be a non-runner) ahead of the fastest player (Herman). If Herman hits ahead of Martin, and Herman gets out and Martin gets on---non-runner situation at the bottom 3rd of the line-up.

Having JC and Wagner back to back non-runners--no good also. What if ALL ahead get on safely? You are non-running from the bottom of the line-up thus defeating the purpose of the runner by replacing them with who? Scott or Doug? No offense, but we have faster people. I'm just throwing it out there...

I am just wondering if some game we could turn the order upside down and hit from 13 back down to 1 and see how much of a difference it will make. Of course this would be against a team that we should have no doubt that no matter what we will win 25-1 like last week. I would love to see Skotty hit leadoff. Just to see the look on the opposing team's face. All confused trying to figure out if he is really the fastest guy on our team. I think it would be good to put guys in spots and roles they aren't used to just to see if they can respond. Sounds fun to me anyway. But I don't make any decisions. I am sure most of you would never go for it but you have to admit you are a little curious.
