Bats Bats Bats

Postby Scotty 2 Hotty » Sun Mar 13, 2011 3:30 pm

I spent some time reading up on what bats SDABL/HS/College will allow....

Not one single bat that we currently own will be allowed in the up coming season. (metal and composite both are out)

An article I read said the only bat pre-2011 that is able to pass BBCOR testing right now is the Hammer. Good purchase Doug.

For those of you who own an arsenal of illegal bats my suggestion is...
-sell it on Ebay (fast)
-I found a company that will paint your old bat to look like the new BBCOR bats...
-Put it next to your front door and use it when the Mormon brotherhood comes knocking
-Donate it to Doug's bar ( Doug could have a promotion night "beer for a bat" )
-Stash it away for 20 years and sell it on Ebay as an antique

Most of the online opinions about the new Composite and Meatal bats say they suck. BBCOR's new bat regulation is based off the performance of a maple wood bat.

Players are also saying they are getting better pop off wooden bats then composite.

So its up to you.... $300 composite 2011 bat... or on average if your lucky, four wood bats per player at $50 a pop.

I also found a wood lathe at Harbor Freight for $200.... if the team would like to chip in I could start making bats in my garage. I am sure we could talk Jesse into growing some special hybrid trees in his backyard.

Let me know your thoughts....

This is a classic example of Americans 'pussifiying' a sport. Com' on man, the bats we used in little league had pop, a kid have gotton hurt just as bad 20 years ago as they could now. I don't remember all these players wearing face masks either?!?! That shit is straight up weak (we have a bike helmet law at my school and in the city of El Cajon) Hell, if you wore a helmet playing ball or skateboarding when I was a kid, you'd be laughed off the field. I have a hard time believing that the league is going to inspect our bats and call people out aka George Brett for bad bats. The bats we do own now ARE classics already since they're kind are now out of manufacture.

Considering what some of you have paid for those sticks, "300 gallons of Jaeger" should be the promotion. Seriously, I (being at least a little in the loop of the upper levels of SDABL) think the money shot will be that we're all going wood next year. So don't buy anything yet.

After seeing the "L Screen" you made in your garage, I'm not so sure you should be using power tools

That "L" screen was ghetto but it did save my life 2 times that day... if there was no wind that day it would still be standing....ha ha

I guess Derek does not want a "Scott's custom bat" that a shame I was going to call your bat "wonder boy"
