At least we looked good!

Big props to JC and Fresh for the uniforms. They turned out great, better than I imagined. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the sleaveless, but the jersey was light weight and no sleaves actually felt like it impoved my ROM on the field, especially when throwing. Classic look, I like the small details; SD on the back, the 4.0 Deli on the breast, the stich. Straight money baby!

Now for the game. How the fuck did we lose that game when those fucks couldn't field a ball they rolled to themselves. We couldn't and didn't punch it in. Both teams had 7 hits, but we didn't hit well today at all. Besides Docs 1.1 HR per game we didn't do shit. Hell I almost got thrown out on my 49th career steal. Got the 50th later in the game. Props to myself. Rob did well, but again stayed in one inning to long, but for not being on the bump for a season did great.

My hitting advice to everyone is this, swing dat shit! No seriously, just get on base. We have guys top to bottom who can hit a liner, a gapper, even the ding dong. That ups our odds of big innings. Stay up, we suck to start every season, we'll jell and pound out wins. You'll see.

We were a little too aggressive and not selective enough with the curve ball pitcher. We are a hitting team, but making a curve ball pitcher make some mistakes, forcing him to go back and throw fastballs, should have been our approach. We did have other timely hits not mentioned on the home page, nor in Dan's post, that put us back into the ball game. But when this team is struggling moving runners, shouldn't we think to play small? Production with sacrifice is another way to win ball games when our motto, "You hang 'em; We bang 'em" is not working so well. If we start thinking more about who's coming up next and recognize each other's strengths and weakness, then we can pick each other up much more efficiently.

PITCHING: Making a rare appearance behind the dish allowed me to see that Rob did great for his first return. He and I really had a good connection with pitch sequence, and he threw some great pitches when he needed to get outs. Control and accuracy became an issue in the later innings, but overall Rob held his mechanics together and pitched a fine returning game.

Matty, Derek, and Brent made some great pitches also, but perhaps it was my sequence that didn't get the hitters to go fishing for balls. My bad.

However, this is where we were very unScrub-like: DEFENSE.

The booted routine plays and throwing the ball around allowed for innings to continue and runners to move up a base. I'm am guilty as well when I didn't block a ball in the dirt with a runner on third in the 8th, allowing the tying run to score. The little things make a HUGE difference sometimes. Do the little things Scrubs!! We catch the ball, throw the ball, and hit the ball: We all need simplification. Stay balanced and focused, and think about what YOU'RE going to do before the ball is hit to YOU.

Let's build on our experiences from our first 2 games. Winners want the ball!!
